Design Outreach will join SEEPEX this year September 28-30 at WEFTEC booth #2437 to display the LifePump, which is a solution to the global clean water crisis.
SEEPEX will host humanitarian nonprofit partner Design Outreach (DO) at booth #2437 during the Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) in Chicago this year, September 28-30. The exhibits at this conference represent cutting-edge technologies in the field of water quality. Among other SEEPEX solutions, DO will display their innovative solution to the global clean water crisis called the LifePump.
DO worked with SEEPEX to develop the LifePump, which is a hand operated deep well water pump that utilizes progressive cavity pump design (Archimedes’ screw) in order to pull water from aquifers. This sustainable, long lasting pump is easy to use and reaches water underground at the deepest depths of up to 325 feet (100 meters), which is twice the limit of similar devices. The LifePump is intended for villages in third world countries that do not have reliable access to clean water due to a lack of pump or broken existing pump.
To date, the LifePump has brought clean water to almost 6,000 people in Africa as part of the “Hundred Pump Project.” The Hundred Pump Project is collaboration between Design Outreach, their partner World Vision, and private donors to install one hundred LifePumps in five African countries before the end of 2015. To learn more about DO or become involved in the Hundred Pump Project, stop by SEEPEX booth #2437 during WEFTEC.
