Industry Person of the Week-Jeremy Thompson

Meet our Industry Person of the Week, Jeremy Thompson, who was part of the Empowering Pumps Water Skills Competition at IFAT2024.

Q: How did you get started working in your field?

Jeremy: My Dad had been in the industry for over twenty five years at the time, so I was somewhat familiar with the industry. The local utility had an opening for an Operator position, so I applied and got the position. I spent 8 years at the local utility until I found my permanent home at NTMWD for the past 16 years.

Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?

Jeremy: I enjoy mentoring and developing the operators. I like engaging my team and plugging them into projects to help them develop a rounded skill set for their career.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?

Jeremy: It is a rapidly growing industry and utilities are desperately looking for various positions. It is a field that has numerous avenues that you can make a career out of.

Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?

Jeremy: I have been working with engineers on the development of an 8 MGD expansion which intel’s additional facility’s such as Peak Flow storage, Headworks facility with Grit removal, UV system, Electrical buildings, a Secondary Pump Station, Non-Pot Pump Station, and Aeration Basins.
