Grundfos, pump manufacturer Opens Innovation Office in Silicon Valley

Pump manufacturer Grundfos bolsters research initiatives in clean tech with a new innovation office in the global technology hub Silicon Valley.

The new office will support business development activities, focusing on new business, research and technology. Grundfos’ Silicon Valley presence will serve as a source of inspiration, keeping corporate business development on the cutting edge of industry trends. Henrik Skov Laursen, formerly the Head of the Grundfos Water Technology Center in Fresno, Calif., is taking on the role of Head of the Silicon Valley Innovation Office.

“Silicon Valley is more than a hub for IT – it is the key place for cleantech,” Laursen said. “As Grundfos works to pioneer new technologies and remain a trendsetter in water technologies, we must locate ourselves in an environment which thrives on creating the next big thing. We strongly believe this can be found right here in Silicon Valley.”

The initiative will allow for the creation of experimental projects in a highly adaptive technology market. The office will orchestrate, test and demonstrate new business opportunities, business models and partnerships. As a company committed to innovation, Grundfos’ new office will focus on new water technologies, sustainable building efficiency and smart applications and new business development within the realms of device connectivity  and digital services.

“Grundfos has established main hubs for business, as well as research and development, in North America, Europe and Asia,” said Henning Sandager, Senior Vice President of the Grundfos Group. “We added an office in Silicon Valley because it is one of those places where specific knowledge and competencies are gathered and further developed, providing early inputs on technologies and business trends.”

The Silicon Valley initiative is a natural extension of the research and investments that began in the Water Technology Center, where the team will continue to bring trendsetting water technologies to the North American market.
