Empowering Pumps & Equipment’s WEFTEC Connect Preview

It’s no secret that this year, WEFTEC is going to look very different from what we’re used to. Being the ‘new normal’ for in-person events, at least for now, it’s important to that we make our virtual tradeshow as beneficial as possible! While there are so many amazing sessions and things going on at this year’s event, we’ve highlighted a few that we thing would be good to add to your agenda. You can also hear WEF President-elect Lynn Broaddus give a preview of the event on our special WEFTEC episode of our #EmpoweringIndustryPodcast.

Operations Challenge:

If you’ve attended WEFTEC in the past, theirs a good chance you’ve seen all of the awesomeness of a LIVE Ops Challenge! Thankfully, we still have that to look forward to this year, even from a far. Two- and four-person teams will compete remotely in the three categories of: process control, laboratory, and collections. The judges will be scoring each team in real-time and the winners will be announced at the Operations Challenge awards ceremony on Thursday, October 8 th . The competitions themselves will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday so you won’t want to miss them!

Networking Opportunities:

We all know that networking is what makes the tradeshow! WEFTEC Connect, has a stacked line-up of opportunities for attendees to participate in. They have a total of (10) Networking Roundtables, such as “Big Ideas – What does Water look like in 50 to 100 Years from now?”, “Personal Actions of Leaders to Promote Diversity and Inclusion”, and “Working Remote Success” to name a few. There will also be (3) LIVE Discussions taking place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with a range of different topics in each session that are aimed at hot topics relevant to today’s water workforce. Lastly on networking, WEFTEC will even be hosting a Trivia night on Tuesday night to add some fun into the evening for attendees.

Brave Blue World:

Haven’t seen Brave Blue World or want to watch it again? Monday night at the movies will be your chance to catch the 50-minute documentary that examines how new technologies and innovations can create a sustainable water future. There will also be a LIVE Q&A discussion following the screening. On our #EmpoweringIndustryPodcast, Charli also caught up with the director, Tim Neeves, going deeper into his work.

Water For People Challenge:

Move for a good cause during WEFTEC Connect! In conjunction with WEFTEC Connect, Water For People will be hosting the Water For People World Water Classic 6/60k. You have from October 2nd through October 11th to complete your walk, run, and/or ride and it directly benefits Water For People’s mission to improved water and sanitation throughout the world. Specifically, this year, it’s a 6K to bring awareness to women and girls in developing countries, who walk an average of 6k per day to get water for drinking, bathing, and cooking.
