An oil and gas company injects 1120m3 of an alkali surfactant polymer (ASP) for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) every day. The ASP slug is injected through 14 injector wells by way of two injection manifolds within the oil field.
The company initially considered a pump manufacturer that estimated nearly $150,000 in costs for spare parts over two years. 14 Hydra-Cell D35/G35 pumps were selected instead and have been running for three years—more than 20,000 hours—with routine oil changes the only maintenance required. Compared to the other pump, Hydra-Cell has saved approximately $225,000 to date.
With its unique valve assembly and seal-less design, Hydra-Cell provides low-shear pumping action that ensures 100% containment. There is no leakage or waste; the polymer is kept free from oxygen to prevent degradation. As a result of optimizing polymer usage, the oil producer has reduced polymer consumption by 15%, saving 21,000 tons after three years. Other benefits include a small footprint, virtually pulse-free flow, and 90% energy delivery from the pump shaft to hydraulic power, achieving significant energy savings.
