Taking Care of the Customer

It doesn’t matter where you are located in the world or how big or small your company may be – taking care of your customers should always be the most important aspect of your company’s culture. I recently visited Finder Pompe, about 20 miles northeast of Milan in Merate, Italy. I know it may seem silly to get “romantic” about pumps, but I really felt the passion in the people I met there – especially Susanna Bollini, Finder Pompe’  Corporate Marketing Director. Talking with her, it was clear she was passionate about growth and overcoming the challenges that come from change. You see, Finder Pompe was recently acquired by Dover’s Pump Solutions Group. This is not the first merger in Finder Pompes’ history. Since 1952, Finder Pompes has merged with other companies to grow and expand their pump product offerings to the oil & gas and nuclear power generation industries. The scary part about merging with other companies is not knowing how the culture will be affected, and a change in culture can have an impact on the quality of the product. Because Finder Pompe designs and manufactures centrifugal, positive displacement, screw, and vacuum pumps to strict standards (API and ISO), it has been critical for the three existing European facilities to maintain their focus on quality products for their customers as they grow into new markets. I was impressed by Susi and the key part she plays in using internal marketing strategies to reinforce the company’s positive culture. From the moment I booked my flight, Susi went out of her way to make sure my visit went smoothly – from arranging a reliable driver to ensuring a comprehensive tour of their operations. Being able to see Finder Pompe’ impressive manufacturing and testing facilities first-hand, it was clear that through all the mergers and acquisitions they’ve experienced in their history, their people truly understood their pump products and their applications to various industrial processes. With their ability to provide a range of pumps to worldwide industrial markets, their culture of taking care of customers is sure to continue.
