Pump Person of the Week – Jodie McCallum

There are so many talented and interesting people working in the pump industry that Empowering Pumps is making an effort to shine a spotlight on individuals who spend their time and energy making valuable contributions inside and outside of their workplace.Jodie McCallum

This week, we talked to Jodie McCallum, from Western, Australia. Here is what she had to say:

“I love working in heavy industry. After completing an apprenticeship straight out of school, I headed to the mines and spent several years blasting and coating in the most extreme environments. I eventually returned home to the east coast of Australia and began working for Specialised Industrial Maintenance; where I have been for the last 6 years!

I never know what weird and wonderful pump will come through the door, but they are always in desperate need of restoration! We service mining, manufacturing, oil and gas, petrochemical and marine industries. Some are a real challenge, highly damaged, or brand new! My team and I get great satisfaction in the end result; working in hand with Enecon and their ceramic composites.”

Tips from Jodie

“One key insight that I have learned from my career is definitely the importance of attention to detail. Small details can turn a good job into a great job!

For anyone considering getting involved with the pump industry, JUMP IN! The pump community is a really nice community of people that take a lot of pride in what they do. Don’t ever be afraid to ask the pump community questions. We can learn so much from the people around us!”
