Pump Person of the Week – Massiel Diez

Pump Person of the Week – Massiel Diez

Empowering Pumps & Equipment is happy to see so many industry professionals nominate their fellow peers, to help shine a light on the PEOPLE behind the pumps! Having recently started a LinkedIn Group for #WomenInThePumpIndustry, we  are proud of today’s Pump Person of the Week – Massiel Diez, Senior Thrubit Engineer with Schlumberger. Based in Midland, Texas, this is what she had to share!

I started working in Wireline Evaluation Services back in 2013 when I got hired on as a Field Engineer right out of University (I studied Chemical Engineering).  I love my job because it challenges me daily. I am never bored! Every job I perform is different, and I enjoy the stress from being in charge of everything that happens out in the field. I like the time off as well – I work 2 weeks ‘on’ and 1 week ‘off’. I had to write two standard work instructions for two tools from one of our newest technologies. The two documents are going to be published for all the employees to access when they need reference for the tools.

I am most proud of being a female in a male-dominated industry. I am proud that when it’s my turn to take over the operations on the rig, I am the one in charge. This job is NOT for everyone. It demands a lot of hard work – long hours, long days, no showers or hot meals for days. People considering applying for this kind of job must have a lot of patience, and they should be informed about some of the negative aspects of this job – in addition to the positive parts, which greatly outweigh the negative – but that is for each individual person to judge. I would say that this is the best quote for our job: “work hard, play hard.

Massiel is a Vlogger (video blogger) – Check out her video!

On behalf of the entire Empowering Pumps & Equipment team, thank you for being a role model! We look forward to keeping up with you through the #PumpTalk Online Community!
