New Valve Standard for Oil & Gas Industry issued by the American Petroleum Institute

As part of the Oil & Gas industry’s continuous efforts to improve operational safety and environmental protection, the American Petroleum Institute just released it’s newest valve standard, known as Specification 6AWellhead and Tree Equipment.

Specification 6A, which governs the design and operation of critical safety valves for onshore and offshore wells, includes new automatic closure requirements to ensure additional protection for workers and the environment during emergency situations and instances of power loss.
