@KSBUSA Knows How to #ConquerTheClog

By: KSB

The struggle is real. Wastewater operators deal with clogs so frequently, that finding solutions for clogging has become a major effort across the wastewater industry. KSB has pointed out in their #ConquerTheClog campaign that the true heroes are the Wastewater Operators, who day in and day out, work to keep pump systems running.

My good friend, Dr. T. Ravisundar, VP of Technical Services at KSB, Inc., has the best saying…“If the pump is not working, the plant is not working.”  And we want to keep Operators working, but with much fewer headaches!

With a deep understanding of the challenges wastewater operators are facing, KSB has put forth significant effort to provide them with solutions for eliminating clogging issues. KSB not only showcased their solutions last week at WEFTEC 2016, they discussed their motivation that drove them to develop these solutions.

After the premiere of their Conquer The Clog video, Michael Blundell, President of KSB, Inc., spoke to the crowd of a hundred people standing in awe at the KSB booth. Blundell explained, “The landscape of wastewater pumping is going through dramatic changes, particularly in North America, thanks to the increasing amount of unwelcomed waste being flushed down the toilet, for example, disposable wipes. KSB understands this problem and knows that these new wastewater challenges require new thinking. Not all waste is created equally, and therefore no one solution will resolve the problem.”

As I was standing in front of the live-action demonstration at the KSB booth, mouth agape as the soda cans, rubber ducks, and golf balls were sucked through the suction end of the New Generation Amarex KRT submersible pump and quickly discharged into a second tank, whole and unscathed, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelming hope for wastewater operators around the world.

Blundell went on to say, “KSB’s philosophy is not just to solely focus on providing a range of specialized impellers capable of handling wastewater without clogging, but to take a wider view and include consideration of system design, pump automation, and solid separation techniques. The goal is to offer an engineered solution that avoids clogging, prevents wear, requires minimum maintenance, and provides superior reliability.”

I was very impressed with what I saw at the KSB booth. Watching the video, with the dramatic visuals and the heart-pounding music, it made me feel as though there wasn’t a moment to lose.
