Introducing SME Move Mining Finalist Teams

The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration Inc. (SME) is pleased to announce the finalist teams for the 2017-2018 competition year. The second annual Move Mining competition is an international program designed to engage students and professionals in the mining industry with the question, “How can I change the world’s perception of mining?”

Finalist teams are Bridge 360, Teaching Kids, S&T Miners and SME PUCP. Congratulations to the winner of the People’s Choice – Mynascliq and their Game Plan. All five finalists will compete for a $5,000 cash prize by presenting their concepts before a panel of industry experts and a live audience during the 2018 SME Annual Conference & Expo in February. Meet the finalists and watch their videos at www.movemining.org/.

New this year is Move Mining Next Gen, an online competition for K-12 participants. More than 100 three-minute videos were submitted telling the viewer why mining is important in our lives. Best Overall Winner is Team Kamille, taking home a prize of $1,000. Watch all of the videos at www.moveminingnextgen.org/.

The Move Mining finalists will compete in a live Shark Tank-style event on Monday, February 26, 2018 beginning at 4:30 pm EST.
