SMRP is excited to welcome Red Conger, President and Chief Operating Officer – Americas at Freeport-McMoRan Inc. to the 2019 Symposium, Phoenix. Red will deliver the opening keynote, entitled “Building a Strong Foundation,” on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. Red will speak to how collaboration within maintenance and reliability efforts can drive company-wide success. Freeport-McMoRan’s decade-long focus to improve safety, efficiency and productivity has resulted in its reputation today as an industry leader in these areas. Maintenance reliability is a key to the company achieving its safe production goals, while collaboration is the secret sauce to the company’s success.
Red Conger is responsible for management of the Americas’ North and South American copper mining operations, and Climax Molybdenum Company. This includes nine mining operations in North America, two in South America and the associated downstream processing facilities. These operations employ more than 15,000 people and have annual copper production of 2.7 billion pounds and annual molybdenum production of 92 million pounds from mines operated by Freeport-McMoRan. He also has environmental and corporate social leadership responsibilities in North and South America.
Mr. Conger has 41 years of mining industry experience with Freeport-McMoRan and its predecessors and is considered a leader in safety, change management and production efficiency.
