The power generation and energy storage industries involves a wide variety of fluid transfer systems. These systems exist at the new design (greenfield) stage as well as the installed facility improvement (brownfield) phase. Steam power (fossil, nuclear, geothermal), natural gas power, combined cycle and hydroelectric involve moving liquids and gases often under heat transfer conditions. Many energy storage schemes involve technologies like pumped hydro, compressed gas, and thermal storage. AFT’s products handle the basic issues like flow distribution, but also the harder issues like compressible flow, waterhammer and transient pipe forces.
