Total E&P Angola Awards Framo Engineering New Contract for pumping system

Framo Engineering, a Schlumberger company, today announced a 200-million USD contract from Total E&P Angola for the supply of a subsea multiphase pumping system for the Girassol Resources Initiatives (GirRI) Project.

“This is our third contract to provide booster pump systems for Total E&P Angola’s Block 17 asset, the first one being the Pazflor pumping system,” said Ole Steine, managing director, Framo Engineering. “Our experience in delivering more than 25 of these systems will enable us to support Total in extending the life of Girassol.”

The multiphase pump system, which will be installed in Block 17, offshore Angola at some 1,350 meters water depth, will boost the rates from two production flow loops. The contract covers the complete system of topside power and control and two subsea pump modules. The pump system is based on the latest development of the Helico-axial technology, capable of a record differential pressure of up to 120 bar.

The system will be assembled and tested at the Framo Engineering advanced test facility at Horsoey, Norway. Delivery is planned for summer of 2014.
