Sulzer’s innovative capabilities in wind turbine repair on show at AWEA WINDPOWER 2019

Sulzer will exhibit its state-of-the-art service and maintenance capabilities for rotating equipment in wind turbines at the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) WINDPOWER 2019 Conference & Exhibition. During the event, visitors will be able to discover some of the latest developments on cost-effective generator repairs.

AWEA WINDPOWER 2019 is one of the world’s largest wind energy exhibitions. This year, the event will focus on how innovation and collaboration can help the sector to flourish. Sulzer, a leading independent repair specialist for electromechanical equipment, will be showcasing its offering and how it can support the industry on stand 1214.

The company has a worldwide network of service centers including a specialist facility in Colton, CA. The Colton Service Center (former Brithinee Electric) supports Sulzer’s existing capabilities with core competences in the repair, remanufacture, redesign, upgrade, modification and maintenance of generators for wind turbines

The fully-equipped repair center also supports experienced field service teams that deliver on-site wind turbine services to react to planned and unplanned maintenance needs for onshore facilities. Sulzer is able to remove and replace generators and motors on the same day, greatly benefitting wind turbine operators by drastically reducing downtime and its associated costs.

The Colton Service Center also offers a range of electromechanical services including motor repairs, control panel manufacture, upgrade and maintenance as well as customer training courses. As part of the worldwide network of Sulzer service centers, the facility in Colton provides electromechanical expertise around the clock.

Jim Mugford, President and Global Head of Sulzer Electro Mechanical Services, comments: “As more and more installations become eligible for independent maintenance support, Sulzer is keen to highlight the numerous benefits that can be realized by partnering with a local expert that has extensive global facilities. We are looking forward to meeting operators and discussing how Sulzer can deliver continued, cost-effective performance and reliability for their units.”
