Streamlining Effluent Treatment: Roto Pumps Reduces Algae Cleaning Costs At a Leading Palm Oil Mill in Malaysia

The Problem

An esteemed palm oil mill in Malaysia was faced with the challenge of cleaning an algae pond in its effluent treatment plant. The mill initially relied on the outdated and conventional method of using excavator loaders, which prolonged the process for up to three months. Not only was this method inefficient, but it also caused unnecessary mess and accidents, leading to damage to the tanks’ sidewalls. As a result, the entire process became both costly and time-consuming.

Roto Solution

The Roto team immediately embarked on finding a suitable solution to the customer’s problem. They developed two RNA 90 ROTO HELICAL ROTOR PUMPS, which were powered by a tractor engine and connected with a flexible hose. These pumps were able to scan the entire algae pond using a floating platform. Roto Pumps addressed the problem at its core, allowing the sludge that previously posed a disposal issue to be efficiently pumped as valuable manure to distant palm plantations.

The Amazing Results

Roto Pumps achieved a remarkable 66% reduction in the total cost of the cleaning process, bringing immense cost savings to the mill. In addition, the time required to clean the algae pond was significantly reduced to almost one-third of the previous duration. This dramatic improvement not only ensured efficiency but also brought great joy and satisfaction to our valued customers. At Roto Pumps, customer satisfaction is our utmost priority, and we take pride in delivering solutions that exceed expectations and deliver tangible benefits.
