Quattroflow™, part of Pump Solutions Group (PSG®) and a leading brand of positive displacement quaternary diaphragm pumps for the biopharmaceutical industry, is pleased to announce that it will be making presentations regarding the benefits of single-use pumps in biopharm applications on two separate days at INTERPHEX 2014. The INTERPHEX Show, which brings together a wide variety of leaders from the pharmaceutical industry, will be held from March 18-20 in New York, NY, USA. The incorporation of single-use pumps is gaining in popularity as a result of the growing development of biologically derived drugs that may be able to provide treatments for a wide array of diseases. To maximize the commercial window of these drugs, manufacturers must overcome speed-to-market challenges and single-use pumps are an exciting new technology that has the capability to help optimize the product-development timeline. In addition, single-use pumps offer biopharmaceutical manufacturers several advantages such as elimination of cross-batch or cross-product contamination, lower cleaning and sterilization costs, as well as quicker validation of their pumps. Quattroflow’s first presentation, titled “Process Requirements Met With Single-Use Pumps,” will be held on Tuesday, March 18, from 4:00-4:25 p.m. on the BPI Stage, which is sponsored by BioProcess International magazine. Presenters will be: Wallace Wittkoff, Director, Global Segment Management – Hygienic, Pump Solutions Group (PSG) Mr. Wittkoff has 23 years of experience in the international hygienic, pharmaceutical and biotechnology segments. His work in the single-use and biotechnology segment began with the application of air-operated diaphragm pumps that met unfulfilled needs for the segment. He has earned a patent and supported white papers that raise full containment and high-cleanability capabilities of diaphragm pumps to their highest standards. Randy Cotter, Engineering Manager, Cotter Brothers Corporation Mr. Cotter is a pioneer in the biopharm process-skid and founded the Cotter Corporation in the late 1970s as one of the first that specialized in building process-skid systems for the biotechnology and semiconductor industries. In 2003, Cotter Brothers Corp. was founded by his sons Randy, Jr., President; Tim, Vice President; and David, Project Manager, with Mr. Cotter continuing to support both the company and the industry. The second presentation, titled “Single-Use Pumps Take Center Stage,” has been scheduled for Thursday, March 20, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Innovation Stage 2, which is sponsored by Pharma Processing magazine. Presenters will be: David Kirk, Hygienic Market Manager, Pump Solutions Group (PSG) Mr. Kirk has global experience in the hygienic market and has been working with pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications for more than 15 years through a variety of pump technologies. He also serves as a Task Group member on a number of Bioprocessing Equipment (BPE) initiatives.
