The open impeller wrench set allows the craftsman to safely remove damaged or sharp-edged impellers without the risk of injury or the possibility of causing further damage to equipment. They are designed to allow the craftsman to engage the wrench in a manner that allows both hands to be free to apply torque to the system. The wrenches are designed to fit impellers with an even or odd amount of vanes. The wrenches engage in a way that distributes the pressure evenly around the eye of the impeller. This applies an even force of torque to the assembly making the most difficult to remove impellers much easier to break loose in a safe manner.
For machinists and craftsmen working with pumps, repairing an open impeller pump can be a challenging task. These heavy-duty and often costly components require precision handling to prevent damage. The KIRIS System (Key Impeller Removal and Installation System) is an innovative solution designed to simplify maintenance, making impeller repairs safer, easier, and more efficient. With this specialized wrench system, technicians can remove and install open impellers with ease, ensuring both personal safety and the longevity of the equipment.
When making repairs to an open impeller pump, it’s easy to make mistakes that can end up warping the vanes of the impeller. Once damaged, this can eventually lead to premature pump failure. KIRIS helps you prevent these user errors and allows you to get the work done without touching any sharp-edged impellers.
The KIRIS Wrench System operates by evenly distributing pressure around the eye of the impeller, ensuring a balanced application of torque. This controlled force allows the impeller to detach smoothly and safely, protecting both the pump components and the technician’s hands. Designed for efficiency and safety, this system minimizes the risk of damage while simplifying the impeller removal process.
Your KIRIS wrench system has all the tools you need to repair your ANSI centrifugal pump. In your KIRIS kit you will find the following components:
To use your KIRIS wrench system, start by removing the coupling hub & key from the pump. Once removed, select the correct size input shaft socket from your kit. You will also want to take the corresponding key that matches the pump size. Place the key on the drive end of the shaft and the socket on the shaft.
Next, depending on the number of vanes on your pump, select either the even vane wrench marked (EV) or odd vane wrench marked (OV). Line this wrench up with the impeller and turn the drive end socket on the other side. Place a wrench on the squared end of drive end socket, then manipulate the shaft in the opposite direction of the impeller. This should enable the open vaned impeller to pop right off. When you’ve finished, you will just reverse the process to reassemble.
The KIRIS Wrench System is a comprehensive solution designed to streamline repair jobs on centrifugal open impeller pumps. Engineered for both safety and ease of use, this system provides everything needed to efficiently maintain pumps and ensure long-term reliability. With a user-friendly design, the KIRIS Wrench System simplifies maintenance, making it the only kit required to keep pumps operating at peak performance.
