Participate Remotely in #WaterWeek2020

The Value of Water becomes increasingly clear during a time when the world is battling a pandemic, which is why it is more important than ever to elevate water as a national priority.

Every year, the team at Empowering Pumps & Equipment participates in #WaterWeek.  This year, Water Week 2020 is planned for April 26th through May 2nd; and while the coronavirus has canceled some of the activities originally planned for this initiative, there are still ways to educate and inspire the nation about the value of water and the need to invest in America’s water and wastewater systems.

The National Water Policy Fly-In has been canceled, but Congress still needs to be reminded about the important work of water professionals. At this moment, water operators are sheltering-in-place at their water treatment plants to make sure that clean drinking water is delivered to citizens across the country (read about the operators at the Carlsbad Desalination plant, for example). In the podcast we’ll be launching on April 20th (follow Empowering Pumps & Equipment podcast recording with @WaterWisePro#EmpoweringIndustryPodcast to stay tuned), you’ll get to hear from a water operator in California.

The organizers of Water Week share this powerful message on their website: “Now, more than ever, is the time to highlight the critical role our sector plays in ensuring the health and well-being of all. We will strive to do so, with a louder and more unified voice this Water Week.”

Here’s How You Can Participate Remotely in Water Week 2020

We can use our voices to remind our government representatives that we still need federal support for water infrastructure and sound policies to address water challenges. The Water Environment Federation will be sharing a “2020 Policy Asks” sheet in the coming weeks, so check their site to download that prior to reaching out to your representatives.

If you are able to spend 2 minutes filling out this short form, you can also Ask Congress to Include Funding for Water Infrastructure in Coronavirus Relief Package.

Be sure to follow @TheValueofWater and @USWaterAlliance and use the hashtag #WaterWeek2020 to keep up with the conversations and call-to-actions around these very important issues.

This is a time where everybody can do their part to protect public health, and participating in #WaterWeek2020 is one way to stay involved, even when we’re stuck inside.
