More efficiency with the new Technifilo magnetic drive pumps

The Techniflo magnetic drive pumps from Global Pumps have replaced the peristaltic hose pumps that were previously in use at an ethanol plant in Australia.

The reason for the switch was the peristaltic hose pump which had some pulsation issues and could only produce a 6-bar maximum. The pump had to handle the pumping of corrosive slurry into a filter press. The 15% sulphuric acid slurry contained 30% solids concentration of up to 2mm in size and around half of that concentration was solids of around 0.1mm in size.

The thixotrophic nature of the slurry meant that it could thicken with lack of agitation and remain as a fluid when agitated at 50oC. A 120l/min flow rate was required at a 6 to 11 bar discharge pressure which varied depending on the filter. This meant that once the pump became clogged higher pressure had to be applied and hence more power used. The desired power consumption limit was 5.5kW. All this were challenges that had to be overcome.

The techno magnetic TB series pumps, the solution to the challenges, are designed to efficiently pump with a 5.5kW motor and can withstand corrosive slurry with high solid concentrations up to 6mm in size.

The challenge of the 0.1mm solids clogging up the pump was effectively solved by the new TB series pumps which contain clearance rings to restrict even the smallest of solids from entering the containment shell area hence eliminating any kind of clogging.

Furthermore features such as corrosion resistance and leak free design makes the Techniflo magnetic drive pump perfect for the job.

Global Pumps stock a complete range of the Techniflo mag drive pumps and distribute them throughout Australia and New Zealand.
