Our Industry Person of the Week is Imran Sayed, Team Leader- Sales & Application Engineering for KSB.
Q: How did you get started working in your field?
Imran: I started working as Graduate Trainee Engineer at KSB Pumps Ltd, India. I learned a lot during my first assignment in Customer Service Department. I gained know-how about in and out of the pumps & that has helped to leverage my competencies in long run.
Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?
Imran: I enjoy all aspects of my job, I think my favorite stage of a project is working with the end user to understand his or her business objectives. As we go through that collaborative process, the ideas start to flow and that leads to solutions. I am proud to be able to provide solutions to customers and colleagues on the technical aspects of pumps.
Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?
Imran: The sky is the limit. The pump industry in itself is vast with various applications. I would recommend that newcomers join the pump industry with a vision and objective of gaining insight into this mighty machine which is the heart of every operating plant.
Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?
Imran: While working recently on one project, there was a challenge of meeting a critical deadline to supply pumps with minimum lead time. There was no spare pump with the customer & the plant has to stop if any of the pumps fail. With team effort we managed to meet the customer’s deadline & customer was happy that the plant did not stop.
