Our Industry Person of the Week is Heather Eason; Founder, President & CEO of SELECT Power Systems.

Q: How did you get started working in your field?
Heather: My dad worked for Duke Energy and would tell me stories about power production. I guess I got hooked early on.

Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?
Heather: I love that we have the power to make a difference. We design a more sustainable, reliable, and secure power grid.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?
Heather: Your work makes an impact today and tomorrow. It’s not just a job, it becomes your purpose and passion.

Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?
Heather: We designed a BESS (Battery Energy Storage Station) so that the solar generated power could be saved for when it’s needed.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?
Heather: The challenge of green energy requires all hands on deck to solve. We need more women and minority in STEM.
