How One French Neighborhood Found a Smarter, Quieter Way to Pump Water

Problem:
In 2015, the Communauté de Communes du Pays d’Évian (CCPE) in France launched a project to modernize its aging municipal lift stations and improve wastewater pumping efficiency.

Many of these stations were located in residential neighborhoods, where concerns over odor, noise, and maintenance were prevalent. The municipality required a solution that was not only quiet and odor-free but also cost-effective—one that would
reduce ongoing maintenance costs and minimize the risk of extended downtime.

Having already seen strong results from a prior installation, including significant operational cost savings, the municipality chose to install two additional OverWatch® Direct In-Line Pumping systems.

Solution:

After seeing strong results and significant operational cost savings from a previous installation, the municipality added two more OverWatch® Direct In-Line Pumping systems, each housed in a stainless steel prefabricated lift station.

Unlike traditional submersible pumps, the OverWatch® eliminates the wet well entirely—lifting wastewater directly at the point of entry. This design helps prevent odors, reduces maintenance, and eliminates the need for confined space entry.

Today, seven OverWatch® systems are successfully operating throughout the CCPE region, delivering reliable, efficient, and community-friendly wastewater management.
