Hydraulic Institute Member of the Year – Arnold Sdano, Chief Engineer, Pentair, Fairbanks Nijhuis

The Hydraulic Institute has named Arnold Sdano, Chief Engineer, Pentair, Fairbanks Nijhuis as its 2012 “Member of the Year.”  The award was conferred on Mr. Sdano at the Hydraulic Institute’s 2013 Annual Meeting, which recently took place in Fort Myers, Florida.

The HI Board of Directors selected Mr. Sdano for distinguishing himself by the level and intensity of his involvement with the Hydraulic Institute and for advancing the Institute’s technical work.

His recent contributions include several key ANSI/HI Standards including Rotodynamic (Centrifugal and Vertical) Pumps – Guideline for Allowable Operating Region (ANSI/HI 9.6.3), Rotodynamic Pumps Guideline for NPSH Margin (ANSI/HI 9.6.1), and Rotodynamic (Centrifugal and Vertical) Pump Efficiency Prediction (HI 20.3-2010).  Other contributions include a white paper featuring system efficiency, a draft test standard related to energy efficiency, and support of a process by which HI Standards development will be transferred to an XML Structured Authoring environment.

Arnold Sdano has been an active participant in HI for over 21 years.  He has been instrumental in shaping the direction of future standards work within HI and has been a leader and contributor on many standards and guideline writing committees.

According to Gregg Romanyshyn, HI Technical Director, “Mr. Sdano is always eager to volunteer to lead an HI committee or provide technical content where needed.  He is well respected by his peers for his depth of knowledge, broad experience, and credible communications.  His contributions to the Institute are considerable and clearly significant.”
