Fluid Sealing Association supports FLMUG

The Fluid Leak ManagementUsers Group (FLMUG) again held their summer meeting in August.  FLMUG was organized as a technical forum comprised of users from the nuclear power plant industry, suppliers of sealing products and other interested parties.  Focus has been the sharing of technical information that will provide improvements or resolutions to sealing challenges facing the industry in a wide range of applications including pumping systems.  FLMUG provides a mechanism for communicating state of the art knowledge about products, services, and best practices that can improve plant safety and sealing reliability.  Membership eligibility is comprised of two (2) categories:

  • Utilities or industries representing principal end- users of sealing products or services
  • Manufacturer, developers or distributors of sealing products or services

This summer’s meeting was directed to development of assessment processes for plant gasket and valve packing programs.  The FSA is directly supporting   this important end-user group and a number of FSA members actively participated in the many hands-on FLMUG training and education programs. The initial aim of these programs was determination of plant performance base lines against which the progress of further improvements in sealing reliability can be measured.  Both users and manufactures effectively engaged in this collaborative effort which will be on-going and thereby continue the success FLUMG has been enjoying since its inception.  The winter meeting will be held in San Antonio this January.
