April 5, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Water Week

April 5, 2019
Washington Court Hotel

Washington, DC

The United States Geological Survey’s (USGS) National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Project is a leading source of scientific data and knowledge for development of science-based policies and management strategies to improve and protect our water resources. Established by Congress in 1991, the NAWQA Project addresses where, when, why, and how, the Nation’s water quality has changed or is likely to change in the future in response to human activities and natural factors. The NAWQA Project has produced scientific data and knowledge that is used by national, regional, state, and local agencies to develop science-based policies and management strategies to improve and protect water resources used for drinking water, recreation, irrigation, energy development and ecosystem needs. A prominent feature of NAWQA is the development of long-term consistent and comparable information on streams, rivers, groundwater, and aquatic systems.

Featured Speakers include Gary Rowe, Chad Wagner, Mindi Dalton, and Katie Skalak—all with the USGS. Speakers will discuss not only upcoming changes to the NAWQA program, but also new priority areas for the USGS Water Mission Area. The Water Sector’s thoughts and input are essential to help guide the future of the NAWQA program.
