CFturbo, the conceptual Turbomachinery design code, enables engineers to design high-efficiency centrifugal pumps straightforwardly from scratch, or based on a given reference geometry. The all-new CFturbo BLADERUNNER uses Computational Fluid Dynamics (3D-CFD) technology to provide pump performance curves whose accuracy falls within the measurement tolerance of the subsequent test bench runs.
In this example, an existing centrifugal pump, designed and set up on a test rig at a German University, has been analyzed.
During this specific project, its performance and hydraulic efficiency were improved. Both geometry data
and measured values were available.
CFturbo offers the unique option of reading existing 3D CAD data and building a parameterized turbomachinery model.
Essential flow parameters such as the impeller diameter, blade height, or blade angles can be modified to
achieve the previously defined design point with the best possible efficiency.
