Sewage treatment is a type of wastewater treatment which aims to remove contaminants from sewage to produce an effluent that is suitable to discharge to the surrounding environment or an intended reuse application, thereby preventing water pollution from raw sewage discharges. An increasing maintenance challenge faced by the wastewater industry is the clogging of pipes and pumps in the collection systems and headworks of the sewage treatment process. One contributing factor has been the widespread use of “flushable” wipes and other non-flushable materials, causing significant ragging problems in wet wells and incurring substantial repair costs. Waste from non-flushable materials causes clogs and ragging problem in pipes and pumps.
