WEF SYPC Mentorship Program: Connecting Future Leaders in Water

This program is designed to connect rising WEF members with industry leaders beyond their own organizations, fostering career growthThis program is designed to connect rising WEF members with industry leaders beyond their own organizations, fostering career growth and personal development through meaningful mentorship. This is a great opportunity to not only connect with leaders of the sector within other organizations but also from different facets of the sector.

This program aims to connect and facilitate fruitful relationships between mentors and mentees through regular check-ins, surveys, and feedback mechanisms in order to ensure both participants are thriving and learning from each other.

  • Participants must be WEF members.
  • Attending WEFTEC is highly recommended.
  • Meeting expectations/time commitment:
    • Monthly (on your own as a pair)
    • Optional quarterly meetings with the entire cohort
  • Length of program: two years.
    • Thus, you can set your own pacing and the cadence of your meetings as a pair.
  • Resources:
    • The WEF Students and Young Professionals Community (SYPC) leadership team will provide optional framework to support relationship building (i.e., worksheets, conversation starters, and more)

Applications open February 7, 2025, and close on March 31, 2025. Program kickoff: June 2025.

Intergenerational Networking & Student and Young Professional WEF Mentoring Program

WEF members Tina Pham and Jim Barsanti have been participating in the WEF mentorship program for the last two years. Tina is a Senior Engineer with the City of San Mateo, California where she manages and delivers multiple capital improvement programs, including streets, sidewalks, and bridges. She also manages high priority projects, such as highway interchanges, rail safety, underground and above ground utilities, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance. Jim is an Environmental Engineer with the wastewater management section of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. Jim oversees collection system and treatment plant regulatory compliance for twenty communities. Jim and Tina recently met in person for the first time in Cambridge, Massachusetts while Tina was attending the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program organized by the Harvard Kennedy School of Public Policy.
