Hydra-Cell / Wanner Engineering Slashes Repair Costs and Downtime for a Car Wash

A full-service commercial car wash facility was using a triplex plunger pump with a pressure regulating valve for a high- pressure, 3-gun power wash. The pump was constantly in use, running 9-1/2 hours per day, 7 days a week, 364 days per year.

The seals of the plunger pump were subject to wear, causing the pump to lose pressure. It had to be rebuilt three or four
times per year and would be out of operation for a week each time. In addition, the regulator often needed replacement.
Overall annual repair costs were nearly $4,000.

Pump Model: D10XKBTHFECA with a C22 pressure regulating valve
Flow Capacity: 8 gpm (30.3 l/min)
Pressure Rating: 1000 psi (69 bar)
Application: Pumping fresh water for a 3-gun power wash

A Hydra-Cell D10/G10 replaced the plunger pump, and the car wash owner stated, “I just want to say that the Hydra-Cell pump is incredible.”

With its seal-less design, Hydra-Cell has no seals to leak, wear, or replace. After more than 1-1/2 years of continuous operation, the only maintenance required has been to replace a belt for the motor drive, an easy fix, according to the owner.
