Hydra-Cell / Wanner Engineering Outlasts Gear Pumps in Pork Processing Plant

A large meat processor was using small gear pumps to spray Peracetic Acid (PAA) directly onto pork in its production lines. PAA is a potent oxidizing biocide against e. coli that is commonly used throughout the meat and dairy industry for sanitation and sterilization. Once PAA is applied to the meat, it oxidizes the bacteria, and quickly breaks down to a harmless byproduct for safe consumption.

PAA is also highly corrosive, and each gear pump needed to be replaced every two weeks or less. As an alternative, a Hydra-Cell M03/G03 pump was evaluated and lasted more than five months.

Wanner Hydra-Cell® Outlasts Gear Pumps in Pork Processing PlantWith its seal-less design and corrosion-resistant materials of construction, the Hydra-Cell M03/D03 contains the acid and applies it precisely to the pork. Since Hydra-Cell proved to be the lower-cost solution, the company ordered three more M03/D03 pumps immediately.
