Produced water and 15 gravity crude oil that can reach 140 ̊F/60 ̊C collect in a large open-air sump pit at an oil field. When the water and waste oil rise to within 2 feet of ground level, they are pumped from the pit to 10 feet beneath the surface through connected plumbing above and below ground.
A Hydra-Cell D66/G66 replaced a progressive cavity pump that had constant service issues and was expensive to maintain. Since installation, the Hydra-Cell has performed superbly as the cycle repeats multiple times per day. With a properly sized 20-mesh strainer basket collecting sludge and metal shards, the operator spends more time checking the filter screen than servicing the pump.
Rugged construction, a seal-less design, self-priming operation, plus the ability to handle high temperatures, abrasive solids, and varying viscosities, made the D66/G66 an ideal choice for this high-flow, low-pressure application.
