A.W. Chesterton Company Expands W&O Supply Distribution Territory

W&O, a global supplier to the marine and upstream oil and gas markets for pipe, valves and fittings, valve automation, and engineered solutions announced today the expansion of its distribution territory with A.W. Chesterton Company to include Washington and Oregon for the Pacific Northwest maritime market. The new territory is a reflection of the strong relationship between W&O and Chesterton that began in late 2012 when the two partnered to bring sealing solutions to the maritime industry.

“The relationship between W&O and Chesterton is thriving and is a great example of how a distributor and OEM can work together to benefit the customer,” said Michael Hume, president and CEO of W&O. “We are excited about the opportunity to grow our distribution territory, and our Seattle team is eager to bring the solutions Chesterton provides to the Pacific Northwest maritime industry.”

Chesterton and W&O are providing maritime customers a total sealing solution, which is a three-part system of valve packing and mechanical seals that can be implemented separately or altogether on a vessel to assist in minimizing fugitive emissions. Chesterton has been providing value driven solutions to meet customer’s needs since 1884. Its high quality and time-tested sealing solutions meet API emissions requirements.

Chesterton initiated its partnership with W&O in 2012 when the company was looking to expand into the maritime industry, after many successful decades primarily focused on the industrial marketplace. W&O’s strong North American presence and reputation for maritime service made for a perfect fit. The partnership began with W&O supplying Chesterton sealing solutions in the Gulf of Mexico, and then expanded to include the San Diego and Los Angeles, Ca. territories.

“We feel that the maritime market is one where our partnership with W&O and our mutual value proposition brings tremendous benefit to the customer by leveraging best available technologies with immediate technical support and local service,” said Douglas Wade, AWC Vice President & Managing Director – North America.

In September 2014, the two companies partnered to offer W&O’s first pump and valve school, where customers had the opportunity to learn about fugitive emissions and how to increase the reliability of rotating equipment and valves. A second school is currently being planned to take place this summer in Houston, Texas.

David Lamphier, product manager of sealing technologies for W&O, adds, “Chesterton sealing solutions are a natural fit to our product range of PVF, engineered solutions and valve actuation capabilities. We are able to provide a complete system solution for all of our customers’ fluid handling needs.”
