A.W. Chesterton acquires Ceramic Polymer GmbH

A.W. Chesterton Company, the manufacturer of ARC Efficiency & Protective Coatings, which are used in the process industries to protect equipment and structures from extreme corrosion, abrasion and chemical attack, announced the acquisition of Ceramic Polymer GmbH a manufacturer of industrial coatings specialized in protecting metal and concrete of large industrial structures such as: storage tanks, off shore and on shore structures, pipelines and bio gas facilities.

The purchase of Ceramic Polymer GmbH based in Roedinghausen, Germany, further increases the Company’s global production ability for their protective coatings line marketed under the brand of ARC as well as their line of specialty lubricants and MRO maintenance products. “The combination of Ceramic Polymer with our ARC Coatings will provide our clients regionally produced and inventoried products with shorter lead times for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and an expanded product offering for North and South America,” said Brian O’Donnell, CEO of A. W. Chesterton. “The acquisition is also expected to result in greater efficiencies and significantly increase the breath of our applications solutions,” added Mr. O’Donnell.

“The A.W. Chesterton Company offers Ceramic Polymer a solid platform to strengthen its coverage and improve market penetration into North and South America,” commented David Garcia, the Managing Director of Ceramic Polymer. “Conversely, the Ceramic Polymer and Ultra Perform coatings will allow Chesterton greater access to China, Japan and SE Asia.” added Matthias Roehl, a founder of Ceramic Polymer, now the Director of Integration.

The company will use Ceramic Polymer’s existing manufacturing capability to expand the offering of REACh Compliant ARC Coatings in the EU market. Additionally, they will eventually leverage Ceramic Polymer’s warehouse facilities to serve to its EU customers with both ARC and IL MRO (industrial lubricant and maintenance) products. Chesterton now begins the process of implementing an integration plan to realize a multitude of synergies aimed at improving delivery, service and speed to market with innovative offerings. “The integration of both companies will take place over the next six to nine months. Our clients will continue to receive the same high quality coatings, which they have come to expect” stated Eric Aulicino, the Global Vice President and Managing Director of Protective Coatings, Lubricant and Maintenance Specialty Products at Chesterton.

Ceramic Polymer GmbH, which will continue to operate under that name, is now a fully owned subsidiary of Chesterton International B.V.
