More than 6,000 registered CPI professionals, including nearly 5,000 attendees, convened at the 2011 CHEM SHOW in New York City, November 1-3, to find solutions to their specific processing challenges. According to interviews with many of the more than 300 exhibiting companies from 13 countries, the majority of attendees were decision-makers looking for equipment and technology solutions for current or pending projects.
“Lot’s of high quality traffic with the right people coming through – company owners, engineers, people who are going to make decisions and specify projects,” said Chris King, General Manager of Bronkhurst USA. These sentiments were echoed by Tod Canty, CEO of J.M. Canty, Inc., “Good quality people with good projects – active things they want to do right now, so it is very encouraging.”
Clay Stevens, President of International Exposition Company, which produces and manages the CHEM SHOW, said that despite the uncertain global economy and an October snowstorm that knocked out power to a large portion of the Northeast a couple of days before the Show opened, attendees came ready to do business. “It was very encouraging to see so many companies looking for assistance with projects that are currently underway.” He added that attendance was on par with the 2009 event.
Many CPI professionals also attended the first AIChE Northeast Regional Conference held in conjunction with the CHEM SHOW. The multi-faceted, three-day program addressed a wide range of critical industry topics ranging from such new developments as nanotechnology to technical sessions on powder and bulk processing. It also provided attendees with the opportunity to learn about new technologies and applications in the classroom and then see them in operation on the Show Floor.
