SMRP Partners with OSHA for Safe + Sound Week 2018

For the second year in a row, the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) is partnering with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)’s Safe + Sound Week, August 13 – 19, 2018 to promote safety in the maintenance, reliability and physical asset management profession.

This nationwide campaign works to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs that include management leadership, worker participation and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards in workplaces.

“Safety and reliability are directly related because poorly maintained systems and practices create hazardous conditions,” said SMRP Chair Howard W. Penrose, Ph.D., CMRP. “When an organization has safety as a culture, you will also find good physical asset management practices.”

OSHA and partnering organizations are holding events across the country throughout the week to raise awareness. Safe + Sound Week is co-sponsored by the National Safety Council, the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the American Society of Safety Engineers, and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
