seepex Inc. had its official groundbreaking on Nov 16th, 2011 for a 51,000 square foot expansion. The current 31,000 sq. ft. facility will be expanded to add manufacturing, warehouse and office space to meet the company’s growing needs. Construction is scheduled to be completed early summer. The progressive cavity pump manufacturer, which currently has 92 employees, will add over 50 jobs in the next three to five years. “We manufacture and export world class products, we do not export jobs,” said Kamran Mirza, seepex director of business development.
seepex continues to grow by offering pumping solutions for larger and more challenging applications. The additional space will increase the capability to build pumps larger than 35 feet and as heavy as 10 tons. Advanced manufacturing techniques will be incorporated, resulting in increased capacity and reduced lead times.
In the coming months, the seepex workforce will grow in areas such as accounting, engineering, production, sales, chemistry and management. seepex places a major emphasis on growing in the local community, and supporting the area businesses, offering new technical career opportunities to the residents of the region.
The new facility will be home to an elastomer lab which will serve as the Global Research and Development Center. Compared to the previous 20% of global injection molded rubber stator production for its pumps, the plant in Ohio will increase stator production to 80% of its global needs. The expansion is also needed as demand in the Americas for the seepex products has grown at 18% average annual rate over the last 22 years.
The past growth rate ensures that the future is bright for seepex Inc. and this new building will provide a highly specialized workforce the space it needs to continue as the most desirable progressive cavity pump manufacturer available.
