SEEPEX Inc.’s philanthropic partner, Design Outreach, launched their “Hundred Pump Project” during a promotional event held at the Heart of Africa Exhibit at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium on June 11, 2014. The event showed how individuals or groups of people can create fundraising campaigns to collect donations to fund a LifePump installation in an African village in need of a reliable water source. Many people at SEEPEX were instrumental in the design of this hand-powered deep well water pump and remain committed to this cause.
SEEPEX Inc. has just completed its own campaign to collect donations for a LifePump installation in Malawi, Africa. Supporters raised an amazing $4,600 towards the fundraiser and SEEPEX Inc. matched each donation 1:1 to achieve a goal of $9,200, the cost to install one LifePump.
The message Design Outreach hopes to convey with the “Hundred Pump Project” is that safe, clean, reliable water is a necessity none of us lives without, but one we often take for granted. The project provides an opportunity for regular people to make a difference in the lives of tens of thousands of people in Africa by helping them gain access to life-sustaining water. After funding for a LifePump has been raised, Design Outreach and their partner World Vision assign the money raised to a specific project location and then start work on the new water source. After a sponsored pump is installed, the fundraisers responsible will receive a report and photos from the village that received the pump so they can to share and celebrate with those who donated towards their installation.
