A leading Vietnamese Monosodium Glutamate manufacturing company faced significant challenges in transferring bulk molasses from the marine port to their facility which was 1.2 kilometers away. The process required seamless fluid handling, adherence to stringent quality standards, and efficient productivity.
In response to these challenges, Roto Pumps emerged as a reliable partner as they understand the varied pumping challenges faced by the food industry, including the selection of positive displacement pumps and their internal component materials in relation to media composition. They take pride in ensuring a smooth and non-pulsating flow of fluids while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene. With cutting-edge pumping solutions, they provided the client with customized Progressive Cavity Pumps, enabling them to achieve a seamless molasses transfer and enhanced operational efficiency.
THE CHALLENGE
The company was using gear pumps to transfer molasses into the tankers. The application demanded higher capacity pumps so the client had to employ multiple gear pumps. The application also demanded high differential pressure owing to the high viscosity of the medium and the long distance. To lend better efficiency to the operation, they were looking for convenient alternative methods to handle the molasses transport.
DISTINCTIVE FEATURES & BENEFITS OF TWIN SCREW PUMPS

- Capable of handling a wide variety of fluids
- Safe to operate
ROTO’S SOLUTION
After understanding the application, the Roto Technical team designed a specialized External Bearing Twin Screw Pump with a 20” delivery line and a special filtration system built into its suction tank. The filtration system prevented the large solid elements in the media from entering the pump, resulting in an efficient transfer of the media. Roto’s solution turned out to be extremely successful with the customer placing an order for a pump with an expanded capacity of over 1000 CBM/ hour.
