Leakage is one of the major concerns of clients in the paint industry. The progressive cavity pumps installed with gland packing or mechanical seals are prone to leakage. The short lifecycle of gland packing & mechanical seals caused operators to change it regularly. Due to leakage, there were chances of fugitive emissions causing damage to the environment while handling volatile chemicals. To ensure minimum leakage, the paint company had to install extra piping to reuse leaked media and it also required constant monitoring. These issues were adversely affecting their operations and leading to higher production costs.

Roto Pumps’ technical team understood the challenges faced by the paint industry and the leakage problem due to gland packing & mechanical seal. Roto decided to design and develop a progressive cavity pump with seal-less technology (magnetic coupling) to help solve their challenge. In seal-less technology, powerful magnets ensure no scope for leakage due to a strong magnetic bond. The seal-less design of the PC pump ensures the preservation of expensive fluids and eliminates the risk of spilling hazardous chemicals which can affect the environment.
