This organization had already experienced an unfortunate accident during the handling of explosive slurry at one of their plant facilities. The incident served as a wake-up call, highlighting the critical need to address the safety vulnerabilities in their current handling process. The Challenge

The explosive manufacturing unit faced a significant challenge with their current handling setup. They were using a conventional Wide Throat Progressive Cavity Pump to transfer the explosive slurry. However, this pump design posed a high risk of accidents due to the exposed universal joints. The interaction of the universal joints with the explosive slurry caused excessive heat generation during the handling process. This heat build-up not only compromised the integrity of the pump components but also heightened the likelihood of potential accidents.

Mitigating Risks & Safeguarding Lives Through Fluid Engineering Innovations

After in-depth technical considerations, Roto’s Technical team suggested to use a customized Vertical Progressive Cavity Pump with fully isolated universal joints from the explosive slurry. This ingenious design completely eliminated the risk of accidents, ensuring enhanced safety during handling. Moreover, the new pump significantly boosted operational efficiency, surpassing the previous setup in performance and reliability.
