Quattroflow Biotech Pumps Meet the Challenging Demands Associated With Biologics

Pump Solutions Group (PSG®) is pleased to announce that its Quattroflow™ line of biotech pumps meet the challenging demands of biologically derived drugs (biologics). The Quattroflow biotech pumps will be on display at ACHEMA in Hall 8.0, Stand L79. ACHEMA 2012 is the largest chemical processing trade show in the world, and will be held June 18-22, 2012, in Frankfurt am Main in Germany.

When creating a biologic, manufacturers have to promote growth in a highly controlled environment, adhering to strict parameters such as the correct pH (acidity) level, temperature and nutrient feed. An imbalance of these parameters can cause the growth of undesirable substances.

To meet these parameters, it is critical to use a pump that features a high level of purity and sterility, no mechanical spalling of contact materials, low-shear, low-pulsation and be self-priming with negative suction lift. The Quattroflow Biotech Pumps meet these requirements, featuring no rotating parts that could be subject to friction in its pump chambers. This mode of operation means the pumps can run dry, are self-priming, shear-sensitive, low-slip, low-pulsation, leak-free, have great suction-lift capabilities and can provide constant flows from 16 ml/min (0.54 oz/min) to 300 lpm (79 gpm).

The Quattroflow Biotech Pumps are available in single-use configurations, which optimize speed-to-market. Single-use, or disposable, pumps feature replaceable wetted parts. This is an advantage for manufacturers looking to maximize their production operations. The single-use pumps reduce downtime between two batches, save time and money, and are quick and easy to change.
