Wilden®, part of PSG®, a Dover company, and a worldwide leader in specialty pumps, is pleased to announce that its Chem-Fuse Integral Piston Diaphragm (IPD) product line is now available in a non-food-grade Saniflex™ (Hytrel®) option for its Pro-Flo® SHIFT and Pro-Flo® Air-Operated Double-Diaphragm (AODD) Metal and Plastic Pump models. Saniflex excels in these applications because it pumps oils, fats and solvents very well. Also, because it is a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), it offers better abrasion resistance than Buna. Therefore, combining the capabilities of Saniflex with the Chem-Fuse IPD design gives it impressive durability when used in difficult pumping scenarios.
Incorporating patented core technology into its design makes the Chem-Fuse IPD the ideal solution for achieving high performance in critical industrial liquid-handling applications, with the new Saniflex option expanding the list of abrasive liquids that can be reliably handled to include more than food-grade substances. The design of the Chem-Fuse IPD eliminates the leak point that is common in models featuring an exposed outer piston, along with the chances that outer piston abrasion will occur. This design enhancement is crucial for industrial applications that pump abrasive or dangerous fluids.
The diaphragm design also offers easy cleanability for faster changeovers between products. These features allow Chem-Fuse diaphragms to greatly enhance pump performance with increased productivity, reliability and safety. A final benefit of Chem-Fuse diaphragms compared to other reduced-stroke IPDs is the use of a large integral piston and full-stroke shaft that doesn’t sacrifice pump performance. This allows Chem-Fuse diaphragms to provide up to 100% increased flow rates and suction lift compared to other diaphragm models.
Wilden Chem-Fuse diaphragms, which are traditionally constructed of Wil-Flex™ (Santoprene®), are available in 25 mm (1″), 38 mm (1-1/2″), 51 mm (2″) and 76 mm (3″) sizes with a temperature range from -40°C to 107°C (-40°F to 225°F). Chem-Fuse diaphragms are available for use on all of Wilden’s Pro-Flo SHIFT and Pro-Flo metal and plastic pump models.
