DOE Pump Efficiency

The upcoming DOE efficiency requirements for pumps will be disruptive to the pump industry and it is important for manufacturers and customers to become prepared. In this post, we are not covering all aspects of the regulation, but highlighting key features and providing good references for gaining a deeper understanding of the requirements.

DOE Summary

Compliance is required on January 27, 2020.

The ruling covers “Clean Water Pumps” as defined by the DOE in 10 CFR 431.462 https://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/retrieveECFR?n=pt10.3.431#se10.3.431_1462

Clean water pump means a pump that is designed for use in pumping water with a maximum non-absorbent free solid content of 0.016 pounds per cubic foot, and with a maximum dissolved solid content of 3.1 pounds per cubic foot, provided that the total gas content of the water
