Lunch & Learn with Vince: Gene Vogel with EASA Discusses Variable Speed Drives for Pump Applications

Join us for an ongoing series where Vince, Empowering Pump’s Director of Business Development, brings on guests to teach him technical skills useful for those working in the pump and related equipment industry.

In this episode, Vince talks with Gene Vogel, Pump and Vibration Specialist at EASA.

Variable speed drives (VSD) may offer benefits for energy savings and reliability improvement for certain pumping applications. An understanding of how energy is consumed by pumps and pumping systems will help user appreciate the need to assess individual applications before heading down the VSD path. Also, while proper VSD application may improve pump reliability, the VSD itself can introduce reliability concerns. The relevant concepts do not have to be difficult and assessing pumping systems is a well-established process. This discussion should be informative for anyone who may be involved in procuring or maintaining pumps and pumping systems.
