Lunch and Learn with Vince: Ask an Inventor with Larry Bachus.

Join us for an ongoing series where Vince, Empowering Pump’s Director of Business Development, brings on guests to teach him technical skills useful for those working in the pump and related equipment industry.

This episode Vince talks to The Pump Guy, Larry Bachus about his invention the ORID, and his invention process.

Topics covered include what the steps of the invention process are and tips for fellow inventors.

With more than 40 years of experience in the industrial pump arena, his areas of expertise include diagnosing pump problems and seal failure.

As a teen, Larry took a job as a mechanic apprentice in a steel mill and in 1968, went into the Navy and continued working with pumps. After the military, Larry graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. For a number of years, Larry sold and repaired pumps and pump parts. At night, he began designing his own products and solutions to pump problems.

Today, Larry is a leading expert who provides training courses on pumps. He speaks fluent English and Spanish, and can conduct his courses and consultations in both languages. Larry has written a book on pumps in both English and Spanish, both are available for sale on his books page.
