By: JKMuir

Opportunities to reduce energy usage and costs through low and no cost operational measures are abundant at most wastewater treatment plants. This 45-minute on-demand webinar focuses on opportunities for energy and cost savings that do not require large capital investment. Topics include control modifications and low-cost equipment replacement projects that are easy to implement and cost effective. A few control system modifications discussed include pump and blower optimization, demand control, wetwell level setpoints, VFD setpoints, and modifications to HVAC systems. Low cost equipment replacement opportunities, such as the replacement of defective and improperly sized valves, and the addition or replacement of instrumentation is also addressed. Specific examples from wastewater facilities are provided where no and low-cost energy saving operational measures have been identified and the resulting cost savings and return-on-investment were quantified.
