“Learning Opportunities” Abound at 2013 CHEM SHOW

With the theme of “Innovate, Explore & Get Inspired”, a newly energized 2013 CHEM SHOW will provide thousands of CPI professionals with a wealth of innovative new solutions – both on and off the Show floor – December 10-12, in New York City.
Many of the 300 exhibitors will be showcasing new products and equipment solutions in their booths all three days of the industry’s leading event, while some of the most innovative technologies new to the CPI marketplace will be presented in the New Product Theater the first two days of the Show. Nearly two-dozen leading manufacturers will provide 15-minute presentations in the New Product Theater on topics ranging from “New Hybrid Polyurethane Technology and Applications” to “Valveless Programmable Dispensing”.
Meanwhile in the Javits Convention Center meeting rooms, the AIChE Northeast Manufacturing Conference and the AIChE Tutorial Program will provide CPI professionals with valuable insights into trends and technologies impacting the process industries. On Tuesday, December 10, the AIChE Tutorial Program will feature six half-day sessions designed to provide attendees with in-depth knowledge of specific process applications. The morning courses are:
  • Solid Liquid Separations I – Physical Principles and Key Parameters
  • Single Phase Low and High Viscosity Mixing
  • Fundamentals of Powder Flow Technology
The afternoon sessions include:
  • Solid-Liquid Separations II – System Design and Process Troubleshooting
  • Multi-Phase (Solid-Liquid, Liquid-Liquid, and Gas-Liquid) Mixing
  • Troubleshooting Common Pneumatic Conveying Problems
Student Day: AIChE Career Day at the CHEM SHOW will also take place on Tuesday afternoon where tomorrow’s chemical engineers will attend a keynote presentation and panel discussion before visiting the Show floor to get firsthand knowledge of the products and companies that drive the industry.
The 2103 AIChE Northeast Manufacturing Conference kicks-off on Wednesday, December 11, and is designed to address core concerns such as energy conservation, environmental issues and process safety that are impacting manufacturing. The five sessions being offered are:
            • Process Safety In Manufacturing
            • Environmental Issues In Manufacturing
            • Plenary Session On Current and Future Issues Within Manufacturing
            • Energy Savings, Efficiency and Reliability
            • Chemical Plant Equipment Design and Maintenance
Information on all of the AIChE programs can be found at www.aiche.org/conferences/aiche-northeast-manufacturing-conference-chemshow/2013.
Also taking place on Wednesday afternoon is a session entitled “Consulting Tips, Case Histories and More”, sponsored by the Association of Consulting Chemists and Chemical Engineers (ACC&CE). Geared to professionals who have an interest in using their industry expertise to become consultants, this seminar will feature speakers who will share their managerial insights.
