Industry Person of the Week- Steven Mosley

Meet our Industry Person of the Week, Steven Mosley, an Product Manager at Industrial Flow Solutions.

Q: How did you get started working in your field?

Steven: I started as an Applications Engineer for BJM Pumps (now an Industrial Flow Solutions brand). At the time, BJM was a small company, and I was able to learn from every corner of the company from Production to Engineering to Sales. This helped me to gain a well-rounded view of how our products are applied and how they can be utilized in a variety of unique applications. I believe this has positioned me well for the Product Management role I hold today.

Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?

Steven: Every day presents a new learning opportunity. No two days have the same challenge, and no two challenges have the same solution. I enjoy working with knowledgeable experts from all segments of the company to come to a resolution. I am most proud of the team that we have assembled at IFS which allows us to efficiently solve problems and implement solutions.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?

Steven: Ask a million questions. You can learn a lot about a product or application by asking for as many details as possible. In some instances, this can trigger a crucial piece of information that can prevent customer headaches down the road. Another benefit of asking a million questions is that it leads you to the experts within your organization for various topics.

IPOW Steven Mosley IFS\Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?

Steven: For the past 12-18 months, we have been focused on building out our production capacity for our OverWatch® product line. I was able to work with our team in Italy to build out a world class factory which is now producing these units at the same rate as our US based operations. Throughout this process, we have worked on qualifying new suppliers in the US and Europe to ensure that we have redundant supply chains providing high quality components. Building out these capabilities also provided a team building opportunity to integrate our personnel in the United States, Scotland, and Italy. Last, but not least, we were able to incorporate feedback and expertise from critical suppliers and customers to improve product design features, allowing us to provide the highest quality product that meets our customers’ needs.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

Steven: I am grateful to everyone who has taken the time to teach me along my journey through the pump industry. I look forward to the next challenges, and to sharing my experience. There is always room to improve and to turn flow problems into flow solutions.
