Industry Person of the Week- Sarah Hickman

Meet our Industry Person of the Week, Sarah Hickman. Sara is part of the Empowering Women Team for the IFAT World Water Skills Challenge.

Q: How did you get started working in your field?

Sarah: After earning a B.S. in Chemistry, I first worked at an environmental laboratory before transferring to a wastewater/water utility.

Q: What do you love the most about your job? What are you most proud of?

Sarah: I enjoy the detail that goes into everyday laboratory work and comparing lab results with plant trends in order to optimize the process.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work or new to the field?

Sarah: There are so many opportunities to grow and learn in the industry. Your career is truly what you make it!

Q: Can you talk about a project you recently worked on?

Sarah: I enjoy helping our system and plant operators work towards furthering their education and certification in the industry. I just finished putting together a new training module which will help our water distribution operators prepare for their certification exams.
